In a short three months KJ has demonstrated that she is dedicated to doing all that is necessary to move scholars forward. She never shies away from a challenge or an opportunity to help others. During a recent staff development lead by her and another colleague she demonstrated her knowledge of data and her exceptional communication skills. This commendation is for an employee who is relentlessly focused on closing the achievement gap for his scholars. He sets the bar high for scholars and staff alike, both in and out of the classroom. He consistently models what arigorous classroom looks like on any given day. Additionally, he is in constant communication with parents and scholars and is readily available for any questions or concerns that may arise. Maria Ortiz is a spectacular employee who has in just a short period of time showed great initiative and drive. Her eagerness to learn and finish a task in a timely manner is just a couple of qualities that make her a cut above the rest. Mrs. Ortiz demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism, especially when it comes to working around students and staff. Michele has worked above the call of duty and has spearheaded the planning of many large school events such as Summit’s Skyhawkpalooza, the fall festival’s haunted house, organizing homecoming week complete with the festivities and working tirelessly with Junior and senior scholars on College readiness. She has assisted tremendously with the SOAR program, Summit’s Intervention program, by offering organizational strategies and note taking techniques. If I could clone anyone, it would be her. She is a great asset to the Summit Team and the High School owes quite a bit of its customs and traditions to her! |

Mrs. Bowman is committed to her scholars and their families. She led the math and technology team in planning and facilitating the successful Math and Technology Family Night. She also tutors every morning at 7 am. She consistently looks for solutions and areas for personal growth around the Uplift Competencies. Lastly, she has created a model classroom set-up with word walls, data walls, exemplar student work, and MYP concepts. | Cristina RamosNovember 2012 Cristina has shown up for our scholars every day and in so many ways. She is continuously seeking ways to improve literacy on our campus. She uses her innovative spirit to come up with creative ways to motivate our scholars and include their parents. The awesome work she did to ensure Math Night was a meaningful experience for everyone is worth highlighting. After officially joining the team only a few short weeks ago, she has already proven that she is the epitome of Student Focus. She makes decisions with scholars’ best interest in mind, always approaching situations with a “can do” attitude. Sharing her resources, knowledge and skills has quickly gained her the respect and ear of her colleagues. | Solomon AdairDecember 2012 Mr. Adair goes over and beyond what is expected to help his scholars be successful. Early in the year held science informational nights explaining how parents could help scholars at home. He also holds after school and lunch tutoring. His scholars are thrilled to go to science each day. Through class chants, hands-on activities, and his exciting delivery, his scholars are fully engaged in each lesson. He also takes time to assists with the middle school girls’ and boys’ basketball team. He is a great asset to Summit. |
Nicole LyonsDecember 2012 This commendation is for an employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Student focus is at the heart of everything she does, from sponsoring class activities to assisting with school- wide testing…to piloting mentor programs , this employee does whatever it takes to make sure our scholars are getting the services they need. Additionally, this employee also does an amazing job supporting and tracking Summit’s alumni…from hosting alumni events…to evaluating transcripts and financial aid packages…to traveling across the country for an emergency one on one…she does it all. | Sandra RomeroDecember 2012 Sandra Romero is an amazing example of what it means to be completely scholar-centered in her work. She works tirelessly to ensure that the scholars are receiving exactly what they need to be successful not only in attendance, but also in her daily walk troughs collecting forms. Aside from being one of the most dependable and hardworking people I know, Sandra also always keeps a positive attitude and helpful demeanor. No matter how busy she is, she is always willing to help a co-worker in any way that she can. She is the epitome of a team player and I am so glad she is a member of my team! | Cassie BeyerJanuary 2013 Cassie is an awesome example of being student focused. As the coordinator of the 2012-2013 Primary School Science Fair she combined her organizational skills with her love of science to create a meaningful learning opportunity for scholars in grades 3-5. Because of her ability to partner and work collaboratively with others she successfully planned, coordinated, communicated and delegated an event that had scholars, teachers and parents talking for days. In addition to working with students on EOC remediation and foundational skills during Saturday school, Co-founding a girls mentor program, and working with struggling students after school tutoring, she is always asking others how she can lend a hand and is very flexible in all aspects of her job. This employee goes above and beyond the call of duty through the multiple hats she wears.

Patty CordobaJanuary 2013 Patty Cordoba is a joy to work with. She is constantly focused on how she can better serve scholars and support teachers while she keeps that focus while being pulled in many different directions. She is constantly offering great ideas to improve customer service while being a thought partner with me in order to strengthen the office communication. Her ability to keep a smile on her face while she juggles so many different requests from staff and the diverse needs of our scholars is astounding and extremely admirable. Keep up the good work!
| Kimberlea JacksonJanuary 2013 Ms. Jackson has taken middle school ELA and content and raised the bar on Summit’s campus. She consistently brings down AP level assignment rubrics for her scholars. She also leads the ELA team in creating and organizing after-school interventions for struggling readers and writers. Ms. Jackson makes sure every scholar has the opportunity to be successful in her class. She consistently contacts parents about their scholars’ progress.
