Here we have a clip of 6th grade scholars performing their class chant. Classes create chants to rally around our school's college bound mission.

 

This clip shows one of our 2nd grade teachers giving positive narration to her scholars. We use positive narration to encourage scholars when they are making good choices and also to provide a positive learning environment for all.

 

This is a clip of a Kindergarten classroom transitioning from their desks to the carpet. We maximize learning time by incorporating academics, such as skip counting into transitions.  

 

This is a short clip of scholars transitioning from the hallway to the classroom in HALL position. We use HALL position to portray professional unity and to respect the learning of other classes in session. One scholar accompanied by the teacher is selected to help "monitor" the behavior so that our scholars can take ownership of their learning and choices.

 

This is a part of the day where we assess scholars on what they know from skills and knowledge attained throughout the week. This particular clip is a 1st grade classroom. This allows time for teachers and scholars to evaluate mastery, success, and to identify areas of improvement. Movement encourages engagement and retention to ensure all scholars are focused.             

 

 Inside this 6th grade classroom is an example of how Laureate scholars answer questions. All scholars stand and speak in complete sentences while responding to the teacher or fellow scholars. All other scholars sit in scholar position and track the speaker. Scholar position and tracking diffuses distractions and encourages all scholars to stay focused. Agree and disagree is a non-verbal sign used to communicate understanding of subject content.            

 

This is a 2nd grade classroom in small groups. The scholars are exploring content that is reinforced with a hands-on activity. Exploration is an inquiry skill that promotes higher order thinking and helps scholars make connections and draw conclusions.      

 

Two classes of Kindergarten scholars sit on the carpet reinforcing the major oceans and continents through song. Songs and chants help scholars to learn and retain important information learned throughout the school year.        

 

This is a 3rd grade classroom discussing a novel study during our Read Aloud block. Scholars use vertical hands to show conviction when answering. The use of agree and disagree is a quick and quiet method to show understanding and opinion in the content being taught.

 

Here we have one of our teachers working with a small group of scholars. Throughout the course of the day, all scholars work in some form of small groups in order to receive more individualized instruction.

 

 

Here a whole Kindergarten class chants the "Days of the Week" songs during morning meeting. Teachers use a variety of strategies to increase engagement and retention of material.

This is a short clip of a 3rd grade intervention specialist working with scholars on fluency and reading skills. All scholars are engaged and sitting in scholar position with their eyes focused on the teacher. All scholars are maximizing their learning time by maintaining their posture and minimizing distractions.  

 

In this short clip a 6th grade science teacher is checking for understanding during a lesson on speed and velocity. Scholars are showing agree and disagree with silent hand gestures to give respect to the speaker and also allowing more than one scholar to give their opinion or answer at the same time. The scholar stands and delivers his answer to build confidence in public speaking, so that his voice is heard and other scholars resond.

 

In this clip a 6th grade teacher is executing a math lesson. All scholars sit in scholar position and are focused on the teacher's instruction. The teacher signals the scholar to turn up his speaking volume so that everyone can hear his response and give their opinion on his answer. She then returns to the same scholar for a further understanding of the content. Teachers always encourage the scholars to justify their answers and show a deeper comprehension of the material.

 

During this Kindergarten math lesson, the teacher is reviewing geometry terms with scholars. The teacher prompts positive reinforcement cheer to encourage a positive learning environment. Scholars are practicing verbal responses while the class celebrates their success of a correct response.
